Daniel Hansen Quoted in Article on Nassau County Police Deadly Force Incidents.
Nassau County Police Department‘s historical use of deadly force has been found to be appropriate since 2006 by department investigators. “The bottom line in these deadly force investigations,” New York attorney Daniel Hansen said in an interview with Newsday, “is that the only information considered comes from other police department members.”
Hansen represented Thomas Hartmann in a lawsuit against the department, ultimately collecting a settlement of $15 million. Hartmann was run over in an altercation by a squad car driven by Officer Karl “The Hammer” Snelders, and lost one of his legs.
